SPECIALIZING IN TEEN SCHOOL PROBLEMS, SOCIAL PROBLEMS, TEEN ANXIETY AND FAMILY RELATIONSHIP PROBLEMS

Teen and Family Therapy in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

For teens who feel overwhelmed, shut down, anxious, or stressed, I create a safe space to talk, reflect, and build coping skills - with support that respects their voice and pace.

For families who want to reconnect, improve communication, and stop repeating the same arguments, I help you understand each other better and move forward as a team.

You’re ready for a real change.

I go beyond individual therapy to strengthen relationships and improve how your family functions as a whole. When we meet for relationship counseling, you’ll feel heard, not judged. I focus on connection, rather than a clinical checklist. I’ll help you build on what’s already going well and find solutions to problems that have you feeling stuck.

My name is Trish, I am a teen and family therapist in Milwaukee, WI. and I can help.

Tricia Krippel, Teen and Family Therapist in Milwaukee

Hi! I’m Trish. I am a therapist in Milwaukee, WI., who has been helping people find solutions and get unstuck for over 20 years. Solution Focused Therapy is a collaborative, a joint effort between therapist and client. My clients have said that I am good at listening and they leave feeling understood. I will work to get to know you and the problem you’re coming to see me about so I can get a good idea about how I might be able to help. The direction of therapy is guided by a treatment plan and I work with clients to decide what we focus on session to session. I am intuitive and can shift focus to what seems most important to the you in the moment. I have many skills and strategies I can share with you and use experience to guide when to use those strategies and when you need to just be heard. I take a family therapy or systemic approach, which means I don’t just focus on one person, I look at the whole picture to create lasting change.

Frequently Asked Questions About Therapy in Milwaukee

  • Each individual therapist or group practice sets their rate per session. Many insurance companies cover some or all of the cost of therapy. Health Savings Account (HSA) cards can also be used to pay for sessions.

    Fresh Coast Therapy rates:

    Initial assessment (60 minutes): $200

    Individual session (45 minutes): $165

    Family session (50 minutes): $185

  • It depends. Both can provide therapy. Here is a general guideline for when to see a therapist and when to see a psychologist:

    When to see a therapist:

    • If you are seeking help with an emotional, behavioral, social, or relationship problem

    • If you are seeking support with a life challenge or with navigating a difficult time

    When to see a psychologist:

    • If you need psychological or neuropsychologist testing or assessment

    • If you are dealing with a severe or chronic mental health condition

Ultimately, who you see is your choice and may be based on a number of factors. Consulting with a therapist and psychologist to determine whether they can help you with your concern may be a good starting point.

  • Understanding credentials:

LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists) have specialized training in relationships and family dynamics.

Ph.D. (psychologists) have more extensive training than masters level therapists. They often specialize in assessment and diagnosis, treating chronic mental health problems, and research.

LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) training is more closely tied to psychology.

LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Workers) can be especially helpful for those struggling with social issues such as housing, domestic violence, and unemployment.

In addition to considering your therapist’s credentials, you can consider whether the therapist specializes in the concern you are seeking help with (ex. relationship issues, trauma, work stress, etc.). Ask to talk to the therapist before scheduling your first appointment to determine if their training, expertise, and personality are a good fit for you.
